Plastic surgery used to be something that was done in secret and hidden. It was speculated that certain movie stars or singers had changed their nose or jawline, but very rarely was this ever actually proven. The average person might have discussed plastic surgery, but as a gossip topic, not with any intention of having it done. That’s all changed now.

Celebrities these days are far more open about the plastic surgeries they have done. And the ones who don’t need any work are still very inspiring to anyone who is unhappy with their looks. The new and improved techniques that are now available make it possible for nearly anyone to look the way they want to.

Many people still feel that plastic surgery is something superficial, done for vanity, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the right surgery can change a person’s life and how they behave and make decisions.

How Plastic Surgery Boosts Self-Confidence

Everyone has something they dislike about their body. For many people, it’s not a big deal. But for some, it becomes a huge issue. A too large nose, for example, can cause a child to be teased throughout their school years and cruel comments can stick with someone long after graduation. A young girl who has been called “Snuffleuppagus” too many times might find herself staying in more than her peers because she feels ugly. She might avoid contact with guys because she considers herself to be ugly. None of this has to be true, but imagine what a simple plastic surgery could do to improve this young woman’s life?

For some, a flaw that no one else really notices could be the cause of avoiding public functions or limiting themselves in relationships or even activities and jobs, simply because they feel that there is something wrong with them. Making themselves beautiful suddenly becomes possible once they start looking at the stars.

Plastic Surgery Heals Old Wounds

Accidents happen, whether from burns or a car crash or even a simple accident with a knife. While major issues usually have their own plastic surgeries, even small scars can be dealt with to create a more pleasing appearance. In some cases, a scar could represent something that the patient wishes to forget and the removal of it will be something that could, again, drastically improve the patient’s life.

Whether the purpose of plastic surgery is to correct a physical flaw that one was born with (such as a large nose or ears that stick out), or to “fix” something that happened later on (like sagging breasts or a scar), it can be a way to improve the quality of life, increase self esteem and make people feel far better about themselves. It’s quite amazing to see the transformation of someone who felt ugly before and, post-surgery, is able to be content with their looks and feel beautiful, perhaps for the first time in their life.

Plastic surgery is rarely about having the “perfect” body. Even celebrities don’t have perfect bodies. Instead, it’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin and looking good when you look at yourself in the mirror. If it takes a few adjustments to get there, who’s to judge? Life could be much fuller and richer for the average person who, inspired by a beautiful celebrity, takes the step to become happier with themselves. Plastic surgery isn’t the solution for everyone, but it is definitely the way to go for many.

You see it all the time in soaps and cinema. There you see someone who is changed completely, so much so that they live with their friends without being identified. You also hear of international criminals taking another identity reportedly with the help of plastic surgery in some unknown faraway countries. And do you believe this is possible?

Let us examine the facts one by one. Face is the most identifiable part of a person. What can plastic surgery do for the face? Plastic surgery is commonly performed to improve one’s features. Take the case of nose. Nose surgery can turn a flat nose into a prominent one, a thick nose into a slender and shapely one, a very big nose into smaller one. This is done through concealed scars and no one can make it out. Some people have excessively large or small chin. With plastic surgery bone can be shaped and new bone or chin implant can be added to give a pleasing look. People who have flat cheeks can get cheek implants done for better definition of face. Sunken cheeks can be made chubby by fat injection into them which is sucked out from another part of persons body with a syringe. If the cheeks are too chubby they can be reduced in size by removing a little fat through a cut inside the mouth. If the lips are too thick they can be reduced in size by cutting out a thin strip and if the lips are too thin they can be made thicker with certain filler injections or by filling them with one’s own tissue by surgery. In older individuals facelift surgery can remove loose skin and make one look 10 years younger. In middle aged people filler and fat injections can smoothen the face and BotoxTM injections can remove the wrinkles, making one look younger. The acne or pock marks on the face can be smoothened by dermabrasion surgery. Scars on the face can be removed or improved by scar revision surgery. If the ears are shapeless or too big they can be fixed. Double chin can be corrected by liposuction. Bald head can grow hair with plastic surgery.

The shape of body can be changed markedly with plastic surgery. Liposuction surgery can remove fat from any part of body and can give an enviable figure. Shape and size of breasts can be changed by plastic surgery. A woman can have a Pamela Anderson look with breast implants . Silicone implants can be placed in buttocks to give them J Lo curves. Implants can be inserted in male chest and calves to give the appearance of bulging muscles. If there is a tattoo or scar anywhere, it can be removed.

People opting for sex change often go for plastic surgery to change from a feminine to musculine look or vice versa. Since they also change their clothing, hair and makeup they can be virtually unidentifiable.

Coming back to the million dollar question, can plastic surgery change one’s identity to the extent that even family and friends do not know? Plastic surgery is commonly done to improve the looks, correct deformities and reverse the signs of aging. After such a surgery person gets compliments that he looks better, or younger and most of the times people do not guess that this is because of plastic surgery. But what if person is already young and he or she has no significant deformity or imbalanced features which require plastic surgery. Theoretically it can still be done by abovementioned procedures but result is usually ugly. For example a beautiful nose can be made crooked.

Even if some of those changes are made person can still be identified by his friends and family due to his body language, voice, expressions, height etc. In other words it is possible in movies but not in real life. Also in real life no plastic surgeon will be willing to do such a job. It is completely unrealistic, unsustainable and sometimes downrightly illegal. It’s a great savior for some of the screen scripts though.

Most of the people nowadays find themselves busy on the things that will make them look beautiful. They would go to salons to have their faces be applied with make-ups, they would let their hairs be styled, let their finger and foot nails be polished with colorful manicures, and they would enjoy the service of foot spa and body massage. But if you are going to ask about where can you best expressed your beauty, what would be your answer?

Yes, you are right! You can best expressed beauty on the face, and an ideal and beautiful face for everyone is one that is symmetrically equal on every side (left and right) and has crystal clear eyes, pointed nose, rosy cheeks ,and a kissable lips. How about this one: a cleft lip and palate, sagging eyelids, nose fracture, etc., what can you picture out, is it a beautiful face? All of you would of course say, “No”, well your all right! These are just examples of what we called facial deformities. People having such condition consider themselves as an outcast that they are different from the normal ones and the society vilifies them. These facial deformities hinder them from showing up their selves to the world. What a great misfortune? But don’t you know that these facial deformities can still be corrected and brought back to its original and normal form, and that is through plastic surgery operations.

Plasticos Foundation is a plastic surgery organization that has the primary goal to put an end to the misfortunes of the people having facial deformities through plastic surgery. This non-profit organization visits deprived communities around the world and identify people particularly the children having such condition. Plasticos Foundation provides free reconstructive plastic surgery operations to these children.

Reshaping lives through plastic surgery is what Plasticos Foundation aims and believes. They assure that there is always a better result in every operation that they are doing. Plasticos as a plastic surgery organization believes that people with facial deformities also deserve beauty.

What is beauty and life if you have facial deformity is indeed a great misfortune, but through Plasticos Foundation’s life changing service many deformed lives have been reshaped. Thank you Plasticos for your great philanthropy!

The growth in cosmetic plastic surgery is not limited to the shores of the UK. People all over the world choose this type of surgery to amend facial or body features about themselves. Long gone are the days when one was forced to accept there birth features for better or for worse. Nowadays plastic surgery transplants are also being carried out on young people.

Plastic surgery of course is not an operation that should be taken light heartedly. The pleasure of seeing ones body change into something more desirable or to your own liking, does not come without its costs and body discomfort during the healing process. It is therefore paramount that any such surgery is only taken out after thorough consideration. Where possible it is also wise to accept advice from those close to you, as there maybe alternative methods that could work out just as effectively. For example in the instance surgery is sought to help reduce weight a proper diet that is followed could just as well do the trick without the financial costs involved in surgery. Also do not forget plastic surgery does require aftercare and depending on the type of plastic surgery you intent carrying out, this could be a number of months.

So how many people actually carry out plastic surgery each year and what type of surgery do they undertake?

Well in 2006 over 11.5 million cosmetic surgery procedures were carried out in the United States of America alone, a 447 per cent increase in the amount of plastic surgery operations carried out in 1997.The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery’s cosmetic surgery statistics are the most comprehensive collection of data available on the number of cosmetic surgical and no surgical procedures performed in the United States

Below is a breakdown of the 11.5 million plastic surgery operations carried out.

Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Procedures

The top five most popular surgical procedures in 2006 include:

· Liposuction – 403,684

· Breast augmentation – 383,886

· Eyelid surgery – 209,999

· Abdominoplasty – 172,457

· Breast Reduction – 145,822

Cosmetic Non-Surgical Procedures

· Over 8 million minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, which require no surgery, were performed in 2006.

· The top five most popular non-surgical procedures in 2006 include:

· Botox – 3.1 million

· Hyaluronic Acid (Hylaform, Restylane) – 1.5 million

· Laser hair removal – 1.4 million

· Microdermabrasion – 993,071

· Laser Skin Resurfacing – 556,172

Non-Cosmetic Plastic Surgeries

· In 2006 over five million reconstructive surgeries were performed.

· The top five reconstructive plastic surgeries in 2006

· Tumor Removal – 3.9 million

· Laceration Repair – 312,844

· Scar Revision – 164,684

· Hand Surgery – 155,810

· Breast Reduction – 104,455

Ethnicity

· People of color accounted for approximately 23 percent of cosmetic procedures in 2006.

· Hispanics – 8% in 2006. The top three requested procedures for Hispanics in 2006:

· Breast Augmentation

· Nose Reshaping

· Liposuction

African-Americans – 7% of African-Americans got procedures in 2006; The top three requested procedures for African-Americans in 2006 were, nose reshaping, liposuction and breast reduction

Asian-Americans – 6% of Asians got procedures in 2006; the top three requested procedures for Asian-Americans in 2006 were nose reshaping, breast Augmentation, eyelid Surgery

According to cosmetic surgery statistics, a growing number of the cosmetic surgeons practicing today are unqualified for the procedures that they perform. Routine cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are sometimes messed up, with horrifying results. Just imagine your friend going in for a breast reduction or a tummy tuck, and never coming out alive. It is important to research any major decision that you are making, but cosmetic surgery statistics are unusually important.

Plastic surgery statistics

1. Lipoplasty (Liposuction) with 455,489 procedures performed, down five percent from last year. Interestingly, 21% of these procedures were ultrasound-assisted Lipoplasty (UAL)

2. Breast Augmentation with 364,610 procedures up nine percent from 2004. For the first time, we categorized saline vs. silicone augmentation. 83.4 percent of respondents used the saline device, 16.6 percent the silicone implant.

3. Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) came in third with 231,467 procedures down 20 percent from 2004

4. Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is the forth most common procedure with 200,924 procedures performed, an increase of 21 percent over 2004

5. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) reported 169,314 procedures, up 12 percent from 2004.

Location and Fees

The above clearly shows plastic surgery is not something that is limited to the rich and famous. Where actually was all this plastic surgery carried out. Well again statistics showover forty-eight percent (48.3 percent) of cosmetic procedures in 2005 were performed in office-based facilities; 27.9 percent in freestanding surgicenters; and 23.8 percent in hospitals. Americans spent just under $12.4 billion on cosmetic procedures; $8.2 billion was for surgical procedures, and $4.2 billion was for nonsurgical procedures.

In conclusion, if you are considering a surgical or non-surgical procedure it is important that you consider your reasons for wanting the procedure, your expectations of the results the procedure may bring, as well as making sure that you have all the information you need to make a properly informed decision about whether to go ahead. As can be seen from the chart above, cosmetic plastic surgery can be expensive financially, let alone the recuperation time needed.

In Southern California, especially in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, plastic surgery is no longer a luxury but a way of life. Men and women of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles use plastic surgery to enhance their facial features or to achieve the figure that they always wanted, but could not achieve with just exercise or dieting.

Many factors have contributed to the popularity of plastic surgery in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, including:

o	Advance in plastic surgery anesthesia have made plastic surgery procedures less painful and their recovery more comfortable.

o	Plastic Surgery has transcended all social, and cultural barriers. Today’s Beverly Hills and Los Angeles women who have plastic surgery come from all ethnic backgrounds- Caucasian, Hispanic, African-American, Asian, and Middle-Eastern.

To achieve the perfect body, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles women are working out, eating right, and having plastic surgery. Young women who never developed full breasts are having saline or silicone breast implants to augment and enhance the size and shape of their breasts. Mothers whose bodies have gone through changes with pregnancy are having tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast augmentation with breast lift, in order to regain their youthful figure.

To achieve facial harmony and youth, women are seeking Facial Plastic Surgery. Procedures such as nose reshaping and eyelid surgery are now being performed with minimal downtime and discomfort, and with an emphasis on attaining a natural look.

What are the most popular plastic surgery procedures for Men in Beverly Hills & Los Angeles?

India offers cutting edge Plastic Surgery for everything from Face-lift to Neck contouring. Indian Health care industry is undergoing phenomenal expansion. The combination of high quality services and low cost facilities is attracting thousands of international patients every year. This is hardly surprising considering the cost of cosmetic surgeries in India is 5 to 6 times lower than anywhere else in the world. When compared to other popular countries; India has the advantage of hospital facilities, experienced doctors and cost. Compared to Thailand, India on average is 50% cheaper and when compared to South Africa a sixth the cost.

WHAT IS PLASTIC SURGERY?

Plastic surgery is a specialized branch of surgery that deals with correction of all visible defects and deformities of any body part. Such deformities may be present since birth or acquired following injuries or after various surgical procedures. These defects commonly involve the skin, soft tissues, muscles or underlying skeleton. Plastic surgery is also done to improve the looks or aesthetics of normal body parts such as face, nose, eyes, cheeks, lips, chin, breasts, the shape and contours of abdomen, waist, hips, legs etc. Thus, plastic surgery has a very wide domain.

WHO REQUIRES PLASTIC SURGERY?

Any person of any age irrespective of cast, creed and socioeconomic status suffering from any of the following may be the candidate for plastic surgery:

1. BIRTH OR CONGENITAL DEFECTS:

Abnormal shape of the head or skull, clefts of the lips, palate or the face. Defects or abnormal shape of the eyes, nose, ears, jawbones etc. Defects of the limbs, fused fingers, extra fingers, large sized fingers and toes. Defects of the genitals such as hypospadias i.e. abnormal shape of the penis with abnormal urinary opening, absence of vagina, inter sex etc. Large black hairy nevus or moles, haemangiomas and vascular lesions. Foetal defect correction in utero i.e. before birth endoscopic correction of some defects inside the mother’s womb.

2. ACCIDENTS & INJURIES:

Several roadside and automobile accident injuries involving face, eyelids, nose, ears etc. All cases with fractures of orbital, cheek nose and jawbones. Injuries of the limbs associated with extensive skin loss or degloving injuries. All types of hand and finger injuries especially industrial crush injuries. Cut tendons and nerves, total or partial amputations of the limbs, hands or fingers also can be corrected by plastic surgery.

3. BURN INJURIES: Acute burns due to flames, chemicals and acids, hot water or fluids, electric flash. Post burn contractures, thick hypertrophic scars causing deformities of several body parts.

4. POST SURGERY DEFECTS:

Following extensive removal of various parts or areas involved in malignant or cancerous growths such as breasts, jaws, lips, mandible etc.

5. SKIN DEFECTS

Treatment of vitiligo or leucoderma (white) patches, removal of tattoo marks, split ear lobules.

6. COSMETIC OR AESTHETIC SURGERY:

For the removal of facial wrinkles, forehead wrinkles, heaviness around eyelids, baggy eyelids, crow’s feet wrinkles, peri oral wrinkles, jowls, and double chin. Lifting up of the eyebrows, nose job or changing the shape of the nose, cheek and chin alterations all can be done by plastic surgery. Thinning or augmenting lips, creation of dimples, reshaping ears, breast reduction or enhancement, breast lifting can be done by plastic surgery. Reshaping arms and legs, body contouring surgery for loose hanging belly, waist, hips, buttocks and thighs can be done by plastic surgery. Removal of pregnancy stretch marks, laser assisted facial rejuvenation and hair transplant are all procedures that come under plastic surgery. Benefits of Plastic SurgeryThe great thing about plastic surgery is that the benefits can be both physical and emotional, both external and internal. The physical and external benefits of plastic surgery can be multi-faceted. The first thing that many people notice after plastic surgery is that their bodies seem more proportional or balanced. Whether a person opts to have surgery on their face, hips, breasts or thighs the aim is to sculpt the body in a way that looks natural. The result often allows people to look more like they feel like they should look. This may sound strange, but often a nose that is too large for a particular person’s face or a bust that is too large or too small can blur all of this person’s other features making them seem disproportionate. Surgeons aim to correct this by taking each individual’s body into consideration before deciding on a desired result.
The physical result of plastic surgery often produces a healthier look and often people who undergo surgery see this healthy look permeate their entire lifestyle. People who have surgeries like liposuction and breast reduction usually feel that their new bodies allow them to participate in physical activities that they wouldn’t have considered before surgery. Plastic surgery can open new doors to people who had previously lived their lives scared to take on activities like swimming or aerobics because of the lack of clothing involved and the way that they felt that they would be looked at by other people.

Blending in is sometimes quite important to people who decide to have plastic surgery, especially when they have grown up teased because of their features. Surgery often allows these people to finally feel like they fit in with people around them instead of sticking out because of the shape of their body or because of their facial features.

Whether a person chooses to undergo plastic surgery to improve their lifestyle or to improve their look there will always be emotional benefits when a person is finally able to feel comfortable in their body. Many people find that they are more outgoing, personable and confident when they become accustomed to their transformation and this heightened sense of self-esteem can be a benefit that lasts a lifetime. Risks of Plastic Surgery:Although complications from plastic surgery are quite rare nowadays each person who is considering having this type of surgery done should make themselves aware of the possible risks of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery complications can range from scarring to fatalities and the effects of surgery can sometimes be traumatizing to patients both physically and psychologically. Even though complications are uncommon it is important to keep plastic surgery dangers in mind. The risks of plastic surgery will differ depending on the individual and the procedure they opt for. Scarring is one of the most common risks that people considering plastic surgery should be aware of. Most surgeons will try to hide incision lines in places where they aren’t noticeable, like under the crease of the breast in breast augmentation plastic surgery and in the hairline in facial plastic surgery, but most surgeries will still result in permanent scarring.

Cost of Plastic Surgery:

No, plastic surgery is not very costly. The expenses involved for any procedure depends upon the institution, the infrastructure required, material used, and nature of the procedure, anesthesia and the operating surgeon. As compared to most other superspecialities, a routine plastic surgery procedure requires minimal instrumentation and infrastructure but high degree of innovative surgical skill.

Plastic Surgery in India:

If you need any medical treatments (from Plastic to heart surgery) the cost of these in India is far cheaper than in the US or Europe. So, you can have treatments done in India , get world class treatments, get a free holiday and have cash left over! India offers what you call a language advantage – a patient would surely prefer a country where English is widely spoken. Also, it is believed that the facilities in India are more suited for International patients. Many highly qualified doctors have had some form of training from abroad, especially USA and UK. Indian surgeons and doctors are known for their skill and research throughout the world. Most patients from countries like USA and UK travel to developing countries such as India for treatment because India offers some of the cheapest pricing options of treatment, offers a good holiday, there are no waiting lists or queues to stand in, the doctors are comparable to anyone in the world and finally, language does not pose a problem as most people speak English.

The short answer is “no.” If your marriage is in trouble, then the changes that need to be made are inside both spouses, and modification of the outside of one of the spouses won’t do anything long term that’s needed to save a marriage. The only time when plastic surgery can “save” a marriage is when one partner has a serious self-esteem issue related to a part of the face or body and decides for himself or herself that having plastic surgery would allow them to move on to confront deeper issues.

It is possible that a cosmetic improvement in one spouse may result in a “honeymoon period” when the relationship feels happier after one spouse has his or her appearance improved. But putting the responsibility of saving a marriage onto a nose job or liposuction will pretty much always result in disappointment for both spouses eventually.

Think about it: do you really want to be married to someone whose happiness depends on your having Barbie doll figure? Because if it does, they’re probably a pretty shallow person. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look our best, but when it comes to plastic surgery, it should be a personal decision, not an answer to a spousal request or a gambit to save a crumbling marriage. If you are in the situation of having a spouse who wants you to change your appearance through plastic surgery, think about what could happen. Maybe you’d have liposuction, and your spouse liked the results, but then he suggests getting breast augmentation. After that he might suggest a nose job. Can you see how sick and wrong this is? It’s one thing to want your spouse to dress nice and keep relatively fit, but wanting a partner to undergo surgery to change their appearance is an issue of control and insecurity.

The way to reconcile a troubled marriage and plastic surgery is to deal with them separately. The marriage itself should be priority number one, and you may require couples’ counseling or individual counseling to resolve the issues that are troubling your marriage. If you’re able to do this to achieve a stronger marriage, then maybe you can think about having plastic surgery to alter your appearance. Plastic surgery should be a personal decision and should not be prompted by wanting to please another person – even if the changes do end up pleasing that other person.

There is no doubt that plastic surgery often improves a person’s self esteem, particularly if they have fretted about a less-than-perfect body part for a number of years. It can be empowering to look in the mirror and think to yourself, “Wow. I have an awesome nose.” But that sense of empowerment and self esteem won’t be there if you look in the mirror and think, “Now that I had augmentation surgery, all that Brad cares about is making me wear low cut tops, particularly if we’re going out on a weekend.” Doesn’t the rest of me matter?” Plastic surgery should only be undertaken after serious consideration, and a troubled marriage is not a good reason to choose plastic surgery.
