Many times people think that Beverly Hills plastic surgery consists of face lifts and breast augmentations only. However, there are actually more than ten distinctly different plastic surgery procedures that are commonly done. While it is true that a lot of plastic surgery has to do with the facial region, not all plastic surgery done on the face is considered a face lift. Just as the face is one region of the body that can have multiple different procedures performed, the breast, and the body are other regions where multiple different types of surgery are performed.

On the facial region, some of the common types of Beverly Hills plastic surgery include the facelift, the browlift, the eyelift, and rhinoplasty. The facelift, being the most common and well-known, is simply a technique where the doctor makes incisions around the ears and within the hair on the scalp in order to tighten both the skin and deeper tissues of the face. This is usually done to fix part of the face that droop or sag more than what individuals would prefer.

A browlift is very closely associated with a facelift and is exactly what the title describes it is when the doctor makes various incisions in order to lift a drooping or dragging brow (a very common sign of aging). An eyelift (know as Blepharoplasty) is performed in order to treat the droopiness or fullness of either the upper or lower eyelids. Rhinoplasty, or more commonly referred to as a nose-job, is when a doctor reshapes the cartilage and the bone inside your nose.

In the breast region, there are typically three different procedures that are common: breast augmentation, breast lift, and Gynecomastia (or male breast surgery). People have breast augmentations for many different reasons. Some do want larger breasts, but some may desire to replace breast contour that can be lost during pregnancy. Basically, in the procedure, an implant is placed underneath the breast tissue in order to enlarge the area, and incisions can be made in three different areas depending on the size and shape of the person.

A breast lift is different from an augmentation in that a lift is done in order to fix a sagging breast, which may be caused by age or pregnancy. In this procedure, the skin is tightened in order to give the area a younger look and sometimes the doctor will insert and implant in order to make the area larger. Finally, Beverly Hills plastic surgery is not only for women. Many men, over time, have excess skin or fat develop on there chest and want it removed. This issue is called gynecomastia, and can be fixed through excisional surgery, liposuction, or a combination of both procedures.

The two most common forms of plastic surgery are liposuction and a tummy tuck. Liposuction is actually the most common form of plastic surgery, mainly because it tends to be successful and most people have parts of their body they wish were thinner. The most common areas to perform liposuction are the neck, chin, abdomen, love handles, hips, thighs and calves. Do not confuse liposuction with a Tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty). Abdominoplasty is specifically for the stomach region of your body and involves an incision near the bikini or boxer line of a person. The purpose of the tummy tuck may be the same as liposuction, the procedure is very different.

As you can tell, there is more to plastic surgery than meets the eye. Because of this, it is very important that you do as much research as possible and understand which Beverly Hills plastic surgery option would be the best for you.

Plastic surgery used to be something that was done in secret and hidden. It was speculated that certain movie stars or singers had changed their nose or jawline, but very rarely was this ever actually proven. The average person might have discussed plastic surgery, but as a gossip topic, not with any intention of having it done. That’s all changed now.

Celebrities these days are far more open about the plastic surgeries they have done. And the ones who don’t need any work are still very inspiring to anyone who is unhappy with their looks. The new and improved techniques that are now available make it possible for nearly anyone to look the way they want to.

Many people still feel that plastic surgery is something superficial, done for vanity, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the right surgery can change a person’s life and how they behave and make decisions.

How Plastic Surgery Boosts Self-Confidence

Everyone has something they dislike about their body. For many people, it’s not a big deal. But for some, it becomes a huge issue. A too large nose, for example, can cause a child to be teased throughout their school years and cruel comments can stick with someone long after graduation. A young girl who has been called “Snuffleuppagus” too many times might find herself staying in more than her peers because she feels ugly. She might avoid contact with guys because she considers herself to be ugly. None of this has to be true, but imagine what a simple plastic surgery could do to improve this young woman’s life?

For some, a flaw that no one else really notices could be the cause of avoiding public functions or limiting themselves in relationships or even activities and jobs, simply because they feel that there is something wrong with them. Making themselves beautiful suddenly becomes possible once they start looking at the stars.

Plastic Surgery Heals Old Wounds

Accidents happen, whether from burns or a car crash or even a simple accident with a knife. While major issues usually have their own plastic surgeries, even small scars can be dealt with to create a more pleasing appearance. In some cases, a scar could represent something that the patient wishes to forget and the removal of it will be something that could, again, drastically improve the patient’s life.

Whether the purpose of plastic surgery is to correct a physical flaw that one was born with (such as a large nose or ears that stick out), or to “fix” something that happened later on (like sagging breasts or a scar), it can be a way to improve the quality of life, increase self esteem and make people feel far better about themselves. It’s quite amazing to see the transformation of someone who felt ugly before and, post-surgery, is able to be content with their looks and feel beautiful, perhaps for the first time in their life.

Plastic surgery is rarely about having the “perfect” body. Even celebrities don’t have perfect bodies. Instead, it’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin and looking good when you look at yourself in the mirror. If it takes a few adjustments to get there, who’s to judge? Life could be much fuller and richer for the average person who, inspired by a beautiful celebrity, takes the step to become happier with themselves. Plastic surgery isn’t the solution for everyone, but it is definitely the way to go for many.

Plastic surgery is the medical specialty that is dedicated to the correction of both form and function. In other words, plastic surgery can correct and improve how a person looks and also how a part of the body functions. For example, rhinoplasty can improve the shape of the nose and also the patient’s ability to breathe.

Plastic surgery has been around for centuries, but it was not until the invention of anesthetic procedures, the advent of antibiotics, such as penicillin and sulfa drugs, and improvement of infection control techniques that this type of surgery became commonplace.

Plastic surgery employs several techniques to ensure a cosmetically pleasing outcome for patients:

Sutures on the outside are generally removed earlier than in other types of surgeries so as to minimize scarring; the wound remains closed by the use of buried, or hidden, sutures Incisions are carefully planned so as to fall in areas where there are natural folds or lines Wound closure is based on the appropriate choice for the type of surgery, with the goal of minimizing any scarring Use of the most appropriate wound closure for the type of surgery performed and for the patient

There are two subspecialties of plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic or aesthetic surgery. Plastic surgeons are often trained in both, but may choose to specialize in one of these areas. Patients looking for plastic surgery in San Diego can find board certified surgeons that can provide detailed procedure information.

Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is usually performed to improve function, but may also be done to improve appearance. There are many types of conditions that may warrant plastic surgery, such as burns, traumatic injuries, removal of a cancer or tumor, developmental or congenital abnormalities, or disease.

Cosmetic Surgery

The practice of cosmetic surgery is dedicated solely to the improvement or enhancement of appearance using medical or surgical techniques. Cosmetic surgery may be done to maintain, improve, or enhance a person’s looks. Cosmetic surgery is done on an elective basis and has seen an increase in popularity.

Plastic Surgery Scars are not what they once were. Modern plastic surgery scars are much less noticeable and are much smaller. This is because modern advancements in technology and medicine has enabled surgeons to make smaller, more precise incisions which often result in a very minor scar.

However, despite the advancements in medical technology as well as surgical techniques, many patients are still left with visible scars. To some people, these scars may seem inconsequential, but to those who have just underwent elective plastic surgery, these scars are a visible reminder of their surgery. This is why those that have plastic surgery scars often look for ways to diminish their appearance.

Treatment Options

Finding an effective way to diminish and heal a plastic surgery scar depends on the scar itself. This is because some minor plastic surgery scars may develop into much larger, more serious scars such as Keloid scars. Keloids are scars that have the potential to expand in size. While some Keloids may be treated using a topical scar treatment gel, more serious cases may require additional surgery.

However, as previously stated, most plastic surgery scars are small. For these scars, there are essentially two choices: laser treatments or using a topical scar treatment.

Laser treatments help reduce the size of the scar by reducing the amount of scar tissue. Although it should be noted that in order to produce a noticeable difference in appearance, multiple treatments may be required. This in turn is often very expensive.

The other option is to use a topical scar gel/cream which is applied directly to the scar. This kind of treatment softens the scar tissue and allows the scar to heal by working and realigning the collagen fibers. In addition, the topical scar treatment forms a protective barrier over the plastic surgery scar which protects it from additional physical damage such as wind and water damage.

It should also be noted that massaging the scar is very beneficial, especially if the plastic surgery scar is a result of surgery to the breast. Massaging the scar will help break up the scar tissue.

Finding an Effective Scar Treatment Gel

If you have a plastic surgery scar or even a non-plastic surgery scar, and would like to use a scar gel to help heal it, there are a few key things that you need to be aware of. The first and most important aspect of finding an effective scar treatment gel is determining if it contains silicone. This is because silicone has been proven to be an extremely effective ingredient used to help heal scars.

Silicone also helps form a protective barrier over the scar which will help it heal faster.

You will also find that there are both silicone based gels as well as sheeting. The only problem with silicone sheeting is that it is not as flexible as using a gel. For example, when you place the sheeting over the scar, you risk loosing contact with the scar when you move. Using a gel will form a flexible barrier over the scar which will naturally move with your body and therefore will never loose contact with the scar.

In conclusion, using a scar treatment gel is a safe and effective way to diminish the size and appearance of a plastic surgery scar. It is also less expensive and less risky than laser treatments.

Stephen suggests using the topical scar treatment MEDscar to help diminish the size and color of surgery scars including plastic surgery scars.

Do you have a birthmark that is not nice to look at and is always being the center of ridicule? Are you willing to undergo surgery in order to look younger? Do you want to remove some excess weight on a few places of your body – and maybe add some padding to a few other selected spots. Before doing this – there are some plastic surgery issues to consider.

Today, almost everyone can take advantage of the plastic surgery mania that was only being enjoyed before by the rich and famous. Plastic surgery issues are now being discussed even by teenagers. Surprisingly many of them would consider undergoing plastic surgery to have the good looks that they all desire.

You must remember that plastic surgery is still surgery and with it come some serious issues that you need to address. Remember that plastic surgery is not always the solution if you suffer from weak self-esteem. It is best to know all possible plastic surgery issues and take precautions before undergoing a procedure. You need to ask yourself a few personal questions first before going under the knife.

One issue that you need to remember is the surgeon. You need to check if he is really a licensed plastic surgeon. You need to check if he has a certificate from the board of Medical examiners and if he is affiliated to a national organization. This institution provides strict guidelines to its medical doctors. They usually oblige the doctors to have a certain level of training and seminars to become a member to their institution. Knowing that your doctor has relevant certificates goes some way to assure you that you can trust him in handing your life over to him during the surgery.

You need to research any plastic surgery issues and risks that the procedure itself involves. In recent studies, almost 5 percent of the people undergoing plastic or cosmetic surgery are experiencing difficulty or are having side effects from implants. These could be caused by infection or sub-standard surgery work which in the extreme can even lead to death. Never resort to cheaper but inadequately trained plastic surgeons. Complications could result if the surgeon is not very good or if the hospital or clinic is not adequately sanitized.

If you are just experiencing low self-esteem, you should probably see a psychologist first, rather than a plastic surgeon. Most of the time plastic surgery by itself cannot boost low self-esteem. The statement “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” truly speaks for itself.

You need to talk to your surgeon on what will you expect to see after the surgery. You might be disappointed to see less improvement than expected, resulting in even lower self esteem after surgery. The surgeon needs to discuss with you the danger, possibilities, and realistic expectations from the results. This is to prepare you for what will happen next.

If undergoing a liposuction, remember that the procedure is very risky. Some patients who undergo liposuction experience problems and complications like overloading fluid. Liposuction has even led to death.

In short, plastic surgery is still a serious procedure that you need to consider carefully before subjecting yourself to it. You need to consider all the issues involved and the risk that you will be facing once you are already there in the operating room.

Always discuss the procedure thoroughly with your loved ones and your surgeon before you make your decision.

Dilemma in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

This is one thing for sure that I, as a Plastic Surgeon could share to anybody very much interested in enhancing their physical appearance.

Today, that the public have an increased interest in cosmetic surgery or physical enhancement either medical or surgical and with the market population increasing day by day. A lot of physicians, even non plastic surgeons and worse of all non doctors would like to get involve in cosmetic business. They would introduce them self as a cosmetic consultant or cosmetic surgeon even without undergoing formal training in Plastic Surgery.

Therefore it would be best for any prospective clients to carefully scrutinize the credentials or qualification of the person you seek consult with, in order to be assured of the quality of your surgeon. However, there are others that would organize and form their own group of surgeons to form a cosmetic organization to boost their qualifications and credentials.

The sole society or organization in the Philippines that is recognized locally by the Philippine College of Surgeons and internationally by the American College of Surgeon, American Society of Plastic Surgeon and ASEAN Congress of Plastic Surgeon to monitor and regulate the practice of cosmetic surgery and training of future plastic surgeons is the Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons – PAPRAS. This prestigious assembly of Plastic Surgeons demand from its members certain qualifications and standards in term of academic and training, to assure the public of a safe and quality surgeons. So it is prudent if you would inquire from your surgeon, his affiliation to the society (PAPRAS). It goes with out saying that PAPRAS membership or affiliation would be the seal of excellence in the practice of cosmetic surgery in the Philippines.

To clarify things out and to make the public aware, Cosmetic Surgery should be performed by a Plastic surgeon with adequate and formal training in cosmetic/aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Plastic surgeons are both cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon, and Reconstructive surgery is a prerequisite for all plastic surgeon before they finish their training and be certified member of the society (PAPRAS). It would take 6 to 8 years of formal training and 2 qualifying national specialty exams (Given by the Philippine Boards of Plastic) after medical school before a doctor could claim himself a Plastic Surgeon. Training is very essential, because it is through these years of training that plastic surgeon is able to gain knowledge to do cosmetic procedure, differentiate high-quality result from dreadful outcome, and learn to identify, prevent and treat complications.

However there are alot of doctors and even non physician that don’t want to take the longer road to be a plastic surgeon, since they think that they could deceive the unsuspecting client. Usually they call themselves cosmetic surgeon but such term does not exist, they usually undergo a 6 to12 months of observership locally or from other country without hands-on training, then afterwards they offer and perform cosmetic surgical procedures to any interested punter.

For the benefit of the majority, the public must be information that there are only few Certified Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon in the Philippines. There are only less than 300 certified member of the society (PAPRAS – Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery).

So, the only thing that we plastic surgeons could advice you and/or your friends when planning to have any cosmetic procedure please ask if the doctor is a Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon and not just a cosmetic surgeon and then ask the surgeon if he/she is a member of the Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons – PAPRAS for you to be sure of the qualification of your surgeons.

Facelift/Rhytidectomy

Rhytidectomy or commonly known as Facelift can reduce and address the sagging skin, deep cheek folds, and jowls at the lower part of the jaw of the face and neck, making these areas more youthful in appearance. We Plastic surgeons usually divide the face into 3 general parts, the upper, mid and the lower 3rd. Aging affects these areas of the face in different way. At the upper third, there is the transverse line of the forehead and the glabellar frown line. Middle 3rd you would note the deepening of the Nasolabial folds, sagging of the cheek skin and hallowing of the suborbital area. And at the lower third there are the jowls, marionette lines and the platismal bands at the neck-mandible area. Due to aging and other multifactorial cause, the support structure and skin of the face loosen.

Face lift or mini face lift surgery is a procedure that would resuspend or reposition the soft tissue of the face to obtain a youthful appearance. The scars from the incision lines are mostly hidden within the hairline or within normal lines of the face and neck, making it inconspicuous once it matures. This is usually performed, either under local or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the face lift procedure and usually requires a short hospital stay for patient undergoing a full face lift. The patient will experience some temporary skin discoloration, swelling and a certain amount of tightness or numbness in the face and ears that usually resolve after 7 to 10 days. Healing takes time and is gradual, so be patient and expect several weeks or months for optimal results.

Cosmetic procedure either surgical or non surgical are very cheap and affordable in the Philippines when compared to other western countries like the United State (USA), United Kingdom and Canada. Because of this a lot of prospective clients that are very much interested in physical enhancement could avail the services of certified and fully trained Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon at a much lower cost. Since physical enhancement is your prime objective. Cost or Price should not be your main consideration, but your Surgeon’s qualification, training and experience should be your priority. Give time and effort in knowing your Surgeon.

Patient safety and quality results is our priority. Take the opportunity to discuss all your options with our certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon for free. With a very affordable cosmetic surgery procedure packages, while having your vacation in the Philippines. Any cosmetic plastic procedure could be a worthwhile and extraordinary experience for both the patient and surgeon, if this is done in the light of surgical standards in term of safety. In order for you to attain the best results for the procedure you are interested without compromising your safety and health, we advice you to bring up all your concerns to a Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon with proper qualification and training in the field of Cosmetic/Aesthetic Surgery.

As simple and easy as it may seem (according to your Plastic Surgeons), there are very important things that one has to keep in mind before plunging into that pool of youth and beauty. Everybody wants to have that extra boost of self esteem and confidence and achieve that timeless beauty through the best possible post operative results with the least of complication.

Plastic Surgeons are appropriately and completely termed Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeons…, however they are now increasingly and popularly being called Plastic Cosmetic Surgeons. The surgeon can not call himself a plastic surgeon unless he can do both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Since the very root of almost all cosmetic/aesthetic procedures can be traced from early reconstructive procedure. Thus a surgeon whose main interest is aesthetic plastic surgery, must also have a firm foundation on the reconstructive surgery, to better grasp the basic principle and application of cosmetic/aesthetic plastic surgery. Reconstructive plastic surgery is a prerequisite in training for all plastic surgeons. So plastic surgeons are both an aesthetic/cosmetic surgeon and reconstructive surgeon. At present, there are just a relatively limited number of certified Plastic Surgeon that one can go to. However, the so called run of the mill cosmetic surgeons without adequate formal training and experience abound and are alarmingly increasing.

There are no short cuts to being one (Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon). It takes 6 to 8 years to transform a doctor after medical school into a Certified Plastic Surgeon (or 16 to 18 years to include Premed Course, Medicine Proper, Medical Internship, General Surgery Residency and Plastic Surgery Residency). It is through these years of formal training that Plastic Surgeons are able to acquire and equip themselves of the knowledge and skills that is required in his private practice. Such as knowing all possible options for a patient inquiring for a cosmetic procedure, being able to predict end result and being able to evaluate if patients are good candidate for the cosmetic procedure they want. And most importantly knowing the complications for any cosmetic and reconstructive procedure and being able to address if any complication arises. For more information you may visit http://www.philippinecosmetic.com or email us at peregrinovii@yahoo.com

Plastic surgery offers people the chance to improve features they do not like, look younger or add to a feature they like about themselves. However, when plastic surgery becomes an addiction, it can be very damaging to the person who is addicted. Many times people who have this problem are unable to stop themselves from getting more plastic surgery than is necessary, so it is up to family members and doctors to watch for the signs.

Examples of Plastic Surgery Addiction

There are both well-known and lesser-known examples of plastic surgery addiction among celebrities and socialites today. One notable example that most people know about (and consider an addicted person) is Michael Jackson. Another notable example is Cindy Jackson. Cindy Jackson is also known as the human Barbie doll. She has had over 47 plastic surgery procedures and has significantly altered her appearance over the years to look more like Barbie.

One of the most infamous individuals who seems addicted to plastic surgery is the socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein. She is famous for getting repeated surgeries to look like a large cat. She has even noted that recent surgeries to expand her cheekbone area have caused limitations to her peripheral vision.

What Causes Plastic Surgery Addiction?

The underlying disease which doctors think is the cause of most plastic surgery addictions is called Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). BDD is a psychological disorder which causes individuals afflicted by it to consider themselves, or part of their bodies, to be ugly or deformed. This disease is considered to be closely related to excessive compulsive disorder and anorexia.

Sadly, regardless of how many plastic surgeries a person afflicted with this disorder receives, they do not see their body image as improving. As this is a psychological disorder, it cannot be treated through cosmetic surgery and must be treated with help from a psychologist.

What to Look For

There are several things that family members and doctors can look for when trying to identify a person that has an addiction to plastic surgery, or the underlying disorder of BDD. First of all, a person with these types of afflictions will have a very negative opinion of how they look and low self-esteem. This negative opinion does not seem to improve even with reassurances from those around them. This obsession is also long-lasting.

Another sign of these disorders is the vast number of surgeries the person wants to get or has received in the past. He or she may also have very unrealistic views of what plastic surgery can do and may be very disappointed in the results after the plastic surgery has been completed.

A person who is afflicted with BDD may also have a difficult time leaving his or her home or feeling comfortable in social gatherings. The person will likely have an obsession that people are looking at the physical trait or traits person is paranoid about.

Individuals afflicted with this disorder cannot be helped through plastic surgery. These people see plastic surgery photos as the exact results of the surgery, while in reality the cosmetic plastic surgery will affect people differently. A licensed psychologist can usually help a person with either of these disorders.

Reconstructive surgery is a valuable option for many people, from young children affected by birth defects to adults who have experienced traumatic accidents. Unlike traditional cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery is often performed to improve function or attain a more normal appearance.

Recent advances have also help plastic surgeons achieve astonishing results that may not have been possible in years past. While absolute perfection is never possible in any type of surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery often helps patients gain confidence and improve self-esteem. As Italian plastic surgeon Gaspar Tagliacozzi said in 1597, the goal of reconstructive surgery is to “…restore, repair, and make whole those parts….which nature has given but which fortune has taken away, not so much that they may delight the eye but that they may buoy up the spirit and help the mind of the afflicted.”

Candidates for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Reconstructive plastic surgery is usually performed for one of two reasons. The first is to correct congenital birth defects such as a cleft palate and hand deformities. The other reason is to repair damage that has occurred after birth, usually due to infection, accident, aging or disease. Many procedures that are often viewed as purely cosmetic in nature are actually vital tools in reconstructive surgery. For example, breast augmentation is often used to correct abnormal breast development. Another example is the use of facial plastic surgery to restore both function and appearance to people whose faces have been affected by paralysis due to stroke or trauma.

Benefits and Risks of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

As with any type of cosmetic procedure, it is important to consider both the potential benefits and risks of a surgery before deciding if it right for you. No surgery is without some type of inherent risk, although some are riskier than others. In order to determine if the procedure is right for your needs, carefully weigh what you might gain by having the surgery against the possible negative outcomes. Consider side effects such as swelling, infection and excessive bleeding along with potential emotional side effects as well. In some cases, surgery might not produce the results you anticipated, so it is important to be prepared for such an event.

Choosing the Right Reconstructive Procedure

The type of surgery you require will depend largely on your individual needs, but your own goals will play a role as well. In some cases, you may be trying to regain function of part of your body, while in other cases you might be focused on improving physical appearance. The first step you need to take is to discuss your questions and concerns with a plastic surgeon that specializes in reconstructive surgery.

Common types of reconstructive cosmetic plastic surgery include breast reconstruction, skin grafting, and facial plastic surgery . Reconstructive plastic surgery is much more than just a type of cosmetic plastic surgery; it is a way for patients to regain function in damaged areas of the body and to regain self confidence.

Plastic surgery is the over-arching term for both reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. The physician does specialty training in plastic surgery to qualify him or her to do either of those types of surgery. Typically, the surgeon will focus on one or the other. So if you need reconstructive work done on your hands, for instance, after a burn injury, you would go to a plastic surgeon. But if you want to enlarge your breasts so as to have a better-proportioned body shape, you would see a cosmetic surgeon.

Cosmetic surgery is growing fast in popularity and in response, cosmetic surgeons have been expanding their array of offerings. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) assembles statistics each year, categorized in many ways. In 2006, the top five cosmetic procedures were, in this order:

·	Breast Augmentation – 329,000

·	Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty) – 307,000

·	Liposuction –303,000

·	Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) – 233,000

·	Tummy Tucks (Abdominoplasty) – 233,000

Those numbers have been rounded off. They include both men and women and are surgeries, as opposed to “non-invasive” procedures.

The ASPS gives the top five minimally-invasive procedures for 2006 as:

·	Botox Injections (for smoothing forehead wrinkles) – 4.1 million

·	Chemical Peels (for rejuvenating facial skin) – 1.1 million

·	Laser Hair Removal – 887,000

·	Microdermabrasion (for rejuvenating facial skin) – 817,000

·	Hyaluronic Acid Injections (for plumping up facial skin) – 778,000

Clearly, a desire for a more youthful shape and younger-looking skin are widespread. As the Baby Boomers continue to age, we can probably expect cosmetic surgery to expand even more in popularity. The Liposuction procedure encompasses reshaping of many body areas, as it can be done on the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, upper arms, chin and perhaps every other area, depending on the individual case.

There are many more rejuvenating procedures offered by cosmetic surgeons, other than these top five listed above. You can have your ears reshaped, chin and cheekbones enlarged, lips plumped up, neck and face lifted, breasts reduced or lifted, and many more.

The best way to start sorting through what is available is to look at some cosmetic surgeon websites. When you feel ready, you can email one of them to arrange for what is usually a free initial consultation. Cosmetic surgeons are very interested in patient education, so you will be able to have your questions clearly answered, and will meet the staff and be given a tour of the facilities. Cosmetic surgery facilities tend to be extremely relaxing and pleasant, and the staff will be focused on providing for your comfort.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery, contact Dr. Rai today for your initial consultation.
